In 2009, Taiyo Yuden acquired a majority share of the JVC recording media unit  and announced that Taiyo Yuden disc will now be sold under the name of JVC.  All media will continue to be manufactured in Japan to the same high quality standards by Taiyo Yuden (now JVC Advanced Media U.S.A.).
