The new
DAT160 tape has a native capacity of 80GB (or 160GB compressed) and a maximum
transfer rate of 6.9MB/s (13.8MB/s compressed). The DGDAT160 has a new tape
width of 8mm which allows it to store such large capacity in a small cartridge.
Sony's
technological expertise and experience in the DDS format have made it possible
to deliver higher compressed capacities of up to 160GB of data protection per
cartridge.
The DDS/DAT
format dominates the low-end tape market, thanks to high reliability and proven
performance as well as assured downward compatibility to support legacy assets.
