Mini DV Tape (DVC -
Digital Video Cassette) is a digital video tape that occupies less
than half the space of an 8mm cassette and holds one hour of video
(11GB of data) on a tape that is 65 meters long. The small
MiniDV tape cassette size makes possible smaller and more portable
camcorders. The most common length for MiniDV tape is 60
Minutes. Manufacturers have now created 80 minute Mini DV
tapes by making the actual tape slightly thinner. Mini DV
tapes are metal evaporated (ME) tape that is stronger and longer
lasting than metal particle (MP) tapes.
